Bagasse Pulp Molded Products

Dec 26, 2024

Bontex has launched the L100 bio-based fluorine-free coating specifically designed for pulp molded tableware. This coating emulsion features excellent oil and hot water resistance, capable of withstanding oil penetration at 120 degrees Celsius and hot water at 100 degrees Celsius. It is free of fluorine compounds and meets environmental and food contact safety requirements. It also has the advantages of stack anti-sticking and low-temperature heat sealability, which can meet the complex demands of specific packaging fields and enhance the toughness and physical properties of packaging materials.

The Egyptian pulp molded market has reached a considerable scale and is widely used in tableware, containers, and fruit and vegetable trays. With the increasing environmental awareness of consumers and the growing support from the government, the market is showing a steady growth trend. From September 9th to 11th, 2025, Beijing Bosun will bring Chinese high-quality pulp molded enterprises to participate in the Egypt print2pack International Packaging and Printing Industry Exhibition to promote cooperation and exchange between the two countries in this field.

Guangxi has become the largest production and export base of sugarcane residue-based eco-friendly tableware in China. During the 2023/2024 sugar season, Guangxi's sugar production was approximately 6.18 million tons, and sugarcane residue was fully utilized. Sugarcane pulp was further extended for use in papermaking and tableware, with the production of eco-friendly tableware reaching 150,000 tons last year.

A research team from Ludong University has made a breakthrough in the study of high-performance porous carbon materials derived from sugarcane residue for zinc-ion supercapacitors. The researchers successfully synthesized porous carbon with small mesopores and carbonyl oxygen functional groups by pyrolyzing sugarcane residue and then chemically activating it. The resulting material, when used as an electrode, demonstrated outstanding electrochemical performance, featuring high specific capacity, excellent rate performance, and high energy density in zinc-ion supercapacitor applications. It also maintained a high capacity after multiple cycles, providing a new material option for future energy storage fields.

With the enhancement of environmental awareness, the demand for eco-friendly paper products from consumers is continuously increasing, especially in the fields of food packaging, medical and health care, and cultural education, where there is a growing demand for degradable and pollution-free paper products. In addition, the rapid development of e-commerce has also driven up the demand for eco-friendly paper products in the express packaging market.

Currently, there are various technical solutions for producing eco-friendly paper products from sugarcane residue both domestically and internationally, such as chemical pulping and mechanical pulping. These technologies can effectively increase the utilization rate of sugarcane residue, reduce production costs, and minimize pollutant emissions during the production process, all in line with national environmental protection policies.

According to Future Market Insights, the sugarcane packaging market is expected to reach $889 million by 2033, indicating a strong growth trend in market demand. A research analysis by Bize Intelligence on the sugarcane residue pulping and papermaking market shows that the global and Chinese market capacities for sugarcane residue pulping and papermaking were 12.927 billion yuan and [specific amount missing] yuan in 2022, respectively. It is predicted that the global sugarcane residue pulping and papermaking market size will grow at a CAGR of 2.16% during the forecast period and is expected to reach 14.62 billion yuan in 2028.
